![]() | Prism A release on Prefecture Records playing electro-acoustic solo percussion. These recording were made in real-time with no overdubbing using Max/MSP software. This group of compositions is a direct result from my interests in using programming and instrument building as a mode of composition. "The music generated here is notably introspective and attentive to detail. Vittum opens with the mostly ambient "Intervale," that rumbles the subwoofer as if the real deal here might actually be happening beyond the audible range of the human ear....With no visual data, the mind settles into the hush and authority of the electronic waves and percussive blows. ![]() | Stratic Oakland based Stratic creates avant-jazz/post-rock and improvised music that rejects traditional structure and combines acoustics & electronics into three distinct layers of sound with processed saxophone, keyboard melodies and textures, grounded and propelled by drums and percussion. ![]() | Tide Tables Tide Tables is the music of Paul Kikuchi and Alexander Vittum. The album Lost Birdsongs is the culmination of several years of collaboration, encompassing material which was recorded live in Seattle in 2005 with subsequent recording sessions in New York City. The music reflects both musicians influence from percussionist Milford Graves as well as their mutual interest in electronic music. “….the music is stunningly beautiful, a highly rhythmic combination of organic and electronic sounds that run the gamut from ambient soundscapes to retrofitted gamelan.” -Seth Watter, All About Jazz NY Buy/Listen |
![]() | Kitty Brazelton An “oratorio”—or liturgical opera—because the CD tells a story from the bible. The story is about time: its beginning, its ending. "The music is gloriously pluri-stylistic, drawing elements from plainsong, classical oratorio, post-Ligeti contemporary music, and even Rock-in-Ppposition (to me, some tracks clearly evoke This Heat for some reason). Melodies are moving, and the project as a whole shows a high level of maturity. Highly recommended." -François Couture, Monsieur Délire Listen/Buy |
![]() | Power Dove "....Beautiful songs of today and tomorrow, unsentimental and direct - highly recommended for cleaning out the cobwebs!” -Fred Frith (Henry Cow) "Vittum’s array of sounds makes him sound more like someone wielding a bank of field recordings than someone playing percussion, and the contribution of the collage of sounds behind the songs is what makes this a really compelling album for me." -Matthew, Songbytoad.com Listen/Buy |

![]() | Unbalanced Chain Unbalanced Chain is a collaboration between myself on drums and Noah Philips on electric guitar. We both grew up in relatively isolated rural environments and eventually migrated to dense cities. Our music is a reflection of this divided existence. We believe that the rumble of the city can be felt in the middle of the forest and the silence of snow sensed in the heart of the city. The material on this album was generated through improvisational sessions that were recorded live and then cut, arranged, and assembled into discrete compositions. Listen/Download |
